Where Winds Meet leveling guide – best ways to farm XP and level up fast
Leveling in Where Winds Meet depends on Character EXP and Solo Mode progression. Quests fill the EXP bar, but the character cannot move past the current Solo Mode cap until the listed requirement has been cleared.

The fastest route is built around Main Story quests, Jianghu Legacy quests, nearby side content, timely Breakthroughs, and a combat setup strong enough to clear each new tier without repeated failures.
How leveling works
Character Level shows your normal progression. Solo Mode Level sets the current cap and displays the requirement for the next tier.
Once the EXP bar reaches that cap, further farming will not raise the visible level. Open the Solo Mode Level panel and check what blocks the next tier. The requirement may involve a Breakthrough fight, Foundation Trial, story objective, character level, or scheduled unlock.
Martial Arts Level is separate. A high-level character can still struggle when the active Martial Art, gear, Inner Ways, and Talents are behind the current content.
Best sources of Character EXP
Main Story quests have the highest priority. They provide EXP and open regions, systems, bosses, and later quest chains. Return to the story whenever the next chapter becomes available.
Jianghu Legacy quests are the strongest alternative during a story or level gate. They tend to offer more value than isolated open-world encounters and often contribute to regional progress.
Side Quests and Exploration Quests work best when several objectives share the same route. Completing three nearby tasks is more efficient than crossing the map for one small reward.
Campaigns and Outposts are worth clearing when their rewards match the current progression tier. First clears provide EXP and useful account progress. Repeating old stages has little value once their gear and materials fall behind the character.
Normal enemy farming is the weakest option. Fight enemies tied to a quest, encounter, or needed material instead of moving between random groups for EXP alone.
Leveling activity priority
| Activity | When to choose it | Main value |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story | Whenever the next chapter is open | Character EXP and access to later content |
| Jianghu Legacy quests | When the story is level-gated | Strong EXP and regional progress |
| Exploration Quests | While moving through the active region | EXP, routes, and local unlocks |
| Nearby Side Quests | When several objectives share one location | Efficient gap-filling between story stages |
| Campaigns and Outposts | When rewards match the current tier | EXP, gear, and first-clear rewards |
| Normal enemies | When tied to another objective | Minor EXP and material drops |
| Full regional completion | During a cap or after gaining better mobility | Permanent exploration rewards |
How to raise the Solo Mode level cap
When leveling stops, check the Solo Mode Level panel before completing more EXP activities. The panel shows the exact condition for the next tier.
A direct Breakthrough tests the current build in combat. A Foundation Trial sends the character to a required activity. Other tiers may depend on story progress or a scheduled unlock.
More EXP cannot replace these conditions. Clear the listed requirement, return to the Solo Mode Level panel, and confirm the new tier when required.
Before a combat-based Breakthrough, check the active Martial Art, equipped gear, Inner Ways, Talent points, and healing items. Repeated failure usually points to weak development or an unsuitable loadout rather than a lack of Character EXP.
How Stored EXP works
EXP earned after reaching the current cap moves into Stored EXP instead of disappearing.
Once the next cap opens, Stored EXP is returned through fresh EXP gains. For each new EXP reward, the game can add Stored EXP equal to 50% of the base amount until the saved pool is depleted.
An activity worth 1,000 base EXP may therefore apply another 500 from Stored EXP. This is previously earned progress being released, not a permanent experience bonus.
Stored EXP does not open the next tier. The Breakthrough, trial, story condition, or timer still needs to be cleared.
What to do at a level cap
A cap is a useful point to fix anything that could slow the next tier.
Check the next Solo Mode requirement first. If it cannot be completed yet, continue with valuable quests, regional milestones, travel points, and current-tier development materials. These activities build Stored EXP while improving the character in other ways.
Avoid farming random enemies merely to increase the Stored EXP total. Quests give the same type of progress with stronger secondary rewards.
Keep the main build current
Clear speed has a direct effect on leveling speed. A strong EXP route loses its value when every boss or activity takes several attempts.
Keep one primary Martial Art close to the current limit. A secondary style can cover healing, range, defence, or crowd control, but it does not need equal investment during the main leveling route.
Check that your upgraded Martial Arts, Inner Ways, Mystic Skills, gear, and Talents are equipped in the active Battle Build. Upgrades saved in another loadout do not affect the current fight.
Replace gear that has fallen behind, but avoid spending heavily on temporary pieces. Attribute compatibility matters more than rarity alone.
The official Version 2.0 development overview covers newer gear tools such as Modulating Stones, improved material tracking, and gear favouriting.
A practical leveling route
Follow the Main Story until it reaches a level or progression gate. Activate Boundary Stones along the route and complete nearby quests that require little extra travel.
When the story closes, switch to Jianghu Legacy quests, Exploration Quests, local Side Quests, and suitable first-clear activities. Group objectives by location rather than moving between distant regions.
As soon as the EXP bar stops, check Solo Mode Level. Clear the listed condition instead of remaining in an old farming loop.
After the cap opens, return to the strongest available quest chain. Stored EXP will feed into the new level range as fresh EXP is earned.
This cycle stays useful across later tiers:
Main Story → local quest cluster → Solo Mode requirement → build check → next tier
What slows down leveling
Ignoring the Solo Mode panel
A full EXP bar does not mean the character needs more farming. It often means the next progression condition has not been completed.
Delaying the Main Story
Character Level alone does not open every region or activity. Missing story chapters can block several systems at once.
Developing too many Martial Arts
Splitting Coins and materials between multiple unfinished setups lowers clear speed. Keep one dependable build ready for story fights and Breakthroughs.
Repeating outdated activities
Older Campaigns and Outposts lose value when their rewards no longer match the active tier. Move to stronger content rather than repeating the easiest clear.
Clearing every map marker immediately
Exploration matters, but full completion is not required for leveling. Distant collectibles and difficult routes are easier to finish after gaining stronger movement abilities.
When manual power leveling fits
Normal leveling includes story quests, regional travel, Breakthroughs, build checks, and temporary caps. Players who want to reach a selected milestone without repeating each stage can choose manual Where Winds Meet Power Leveling for targets currently offered up to Level 75.
The route depends on the character’s current level, platform, story access, unlocked regions, and active Solo Mode requirement.
More options are listed under Where Winds Meet services.
What to do after reaching the target level
A target level opens further progression but does not finish the build.
Check the next Solo Mode requirement, continue the available Main Story, and bring the primary Martial Art and gear in line with the new tier. Inner Ways, Mystic Skills, regional rewards, and later activities can then be developed without the same pressure to chase Character EXP.
