Each resource has a separate purpose. Credits support everyday gameplay, Gold provides premium options, Bonds unlock selected high-value items, and experience advances vehicles or crews. Spending them correctly reduces unnecessary grinding and prevents rare resources from being wasted.

Players comparing different routes for missions, currencies, and account goals can review World of Tanks services for account progress.

The official overview of World of Tanks currencies and resources lists Experience, Credits, Gold, and Bonds as the four main resource groups. Experience is divided into Combat XP, Free XP, and Crew XP.

Credits

Credits are the main currency used during normal account progression. Players often call them Silver.

You need Credits to purchase researchable vehicles, modules, equipment, shells, consumables, Garage slots, Training Manuals, and selected directives. Credits also cover vehicle repairs after battle.

Battle income depends on performance and active bonuses. The final profit is calculated after repair, ammunition, and consumable costs are deducted. A high gross income can still produce a weak result when expensive ammunition and consumables are used too often.

How to Earn More Credits

Battles are the main source of Credits. Missions, Personal Reserves, Premium Account bonuses, item sales, and selected modes can increase the total.

Premium vehicles are commonly used for credit farming because they have increased earning potential. However, the best farming vehicle is not always the one with the highest theoretical income. Consistent damage, affordable ammunition, and manageable repair costs also matter.

Players who need a defined amount without completing the full farming process themselves can use WoT Silver farming for a selected credit target. The amount is earned through gameplay on the account rather than transferred as a separate currency item.

How to Spend Credits Efficiently

Do not purchase a newly unlocked vehicle with your entire balance. Keep enough Credits for essential modules, equipment, ammunition, consumables, and several repairs.

Prioritize vehicles you plan to play immediately. Buying several tanks without preparing them leaves Credits locked in unused Garage inventory.

Equipment discounts are useful for preparing future vehicles, but only when you already know which items are required. Avoid buying equipment simply because it is discounted.

Sell unused stock modules, old shells, duplicate equipment, and unwanted consumables through the Depot. Sale prices are lower than purchase prices, so review items carefully before confirming.

Gold

Gold is the premium currency of World of Tanks. It can be purchased through the Premium Shop and earned through selected events, contests, clan activities, or other limited opportunities.

Gold is used for WoT Premium Account, selected Premium vehicles, Combat XP conversion, crew retraining, perk resets, equipment demounting, customization, Personal Reserves, and account services.

Gold can accelerate progress, but it is not required to research standard vehicle branches.

Should You Exchange Gold for Credits?

The standard exchange rate is 1 Gold for 400 Credits. The game may offer different conversion conditions during specific events or promotions.

This exchange is convenient when a small amount is missing for a vehicle or equipment purchase. It is usually inefficient as a regular source of Credits because Gold is harder to replace.

A Premium vehicle or Premium Account can provide longer-term value by improving income across many battles. Direct conversion solves only the immediate shortage.

When to Convert XP With Gold

Combat XP stored on Elite vehicles can be converted into Free XP with Gold. The standard rate is 25 Combat XP plus 1 Gold for 25 Free XP, although promotional rates may be offered.

Conversion is most useful when Free XP will unlock an important gun, turret, suspension, or engine. Converting large amounts without a clear research goal can consume Gold quickly.

Bonds

Bonds are a special currency earned through eligible battles, missions, competitive activities, the Referral Program, and selected modes.

They can be spent on improved equipment, equipment directives, selected vehicles, demounting improved equipment, and certain styles. The available inventory can change, so check the Items for Bonds section before planning a purchase.

Bonds accumulate more slowly than Credits. Saving them until you have a specific goal is usually better than making several small purchases.

Improved equipment is most valuable on a vehicle you play frequently. A Bond vehicle provides a new Garage option, while improved equipment strengthens an existing favorite. Choose according to your actual playtime rather than rarity alone.

Combat XP

Combat XP is earned separately on each vehicle. It is used to research that vehicle’s modules and the next machines connected to it in the Tech Tree.

A vehicle receives Elite status after all its modules and subsequent vehicles have been researched. Premium vehicles have Elite status by default.

Combat XP on an Elite vehicle can support accelerated crew training, Field Modification, or conversion into Free XP.

Research the modules that affect battle performance before rushing toward the next vehicle. A stronger gun, turret, or suspension can improve both results and XP income during the remaining grind.

Free XP

Free XP is not tied to one vehicle. It can be used on any available module or vehicle when the preceding research requirements have been completed.

Five percent of earned Combat XP is normally added as Free XP. It can also come from missions, Personal Reserves, Personal Missions, and Combat XP conversion.

The most efficient use of Free XP is often skipping weak stock modules. Unlocking a competitive gun or suspension can make the entire vehicle grind more productive.

Using Free XP to skip complete vehicles saves time but consumes much more of the resource. Reserve this approach for branches you have already evaluated.

Crew XP

Crew XP develops qualifications and perks. Crew members receive experience through battles, Crew Books, Personal Reserves, Premium Account bonuses, and selected account features.

A trained crew improves vehicle consistency through better repair speed, concealment, gun handling, view range, and other bonuses.

Avoid frequent retraining without a plan. Moving crews between unsuitable vehicles can create penalties and additional Gold or Credit costs.

Crew Books are useful when preparing a permanent crew for a frequently played vehicle. They provide less value when used on crews that will soon be replaced.

Temporary Event Currencies

Battle Pass seasons, temporary modes, and special events may introduce tokens, points, or separate stores.

These resources are not part of the permanent economy. Their earning period, spending deadline, conversion rules, and available rewards can change between events.

Check the event description before saving tokens. Some resources remain available after the earning period ends, while others must be spent before the store closes.

Prioritize exclusive rewards first. Credits, consumables, and other repeatable items should usually be considered after limited vehicles, equipment, crew members, or customization rewards.

How to Combine Currency and XP Farming

A productive battle can advance several resources at once. A suitable Premium vehicle may earn Credits, train a crew, generate Combat XP, provide Free XP, and complete missions during the same session.

Daily victory bonuses are especially useful when applied to vehicles that still need modules or Tech Tree progress. Players with limited playtime can complete a chosen number of daily wins on selected tanks, allowing the chosen vehicles to collect the associated battle progress and rewards.

Activate Personal Reserves only when you have enough time for a full session. Their duration continues while you are in the Garage or battle queue, so short interruptions reduce their value.

Select vehicles before activating a Reserve. Changing equipment, crews, and ammunition after the timer starts wastes part of the bonus period.

Recommended Spending Order

Credits should cover immediate operating costs first. Maintain enough for repairs, ammunition, consumables, and equipment before buying another vehicle.

Use Free XP for modules that significantly improve performance. Save Gold for premium features or targeted conversions rather than routine credit shortages.

Keep Bonds until you can afford a planned vehicle or a complete improved equipment setup. Spend event tokens before their confirmed expiration date.

This order keeps common resources available for daily play while protecting currencies that take longer to replace.

Common Currency Mistakes

Buying a Vehicle Without a Credit Reserve

The vehicle enters the Garage, but there are not enough Credits for equipment, ammunition, or repairs.

Converting XP Without a Research Plan

Gold is spent on Free XP that remains unused or is applied to inexpensive modules.

Exchanging Too Much Gold for Credits

The immediate Credit shortage disappears, but a harder-to-replace premium currency is lost.

Spending Bonds Too Early

Small purchases delay a more valuable vehicle or improved equipment goal.

Ignoring Battle Costs

Gross Credit income looks strong, but repair, premium ammunition, and consumable expenses remove most of the profit.

Saving Event Tokens Without Checking the Deadline

The store closes before the currency is exchanged for rewards.

It can be, but important stock modules are usually a more efficient priority. Skipping entire vehicles requires a much larger amount.
Is Exchanging Gold for Credits Worth It?
It can help during a discount or when a small amount is missing. Regularly using Gold for Credits is less efficient than earning Credits through battles.
Do Event Tokens Carry Over?

Final Currency Strategy

Credits keep vehicles operational and support normal progression. Gold provides premium options and targeted shortcuts. Bonds should be reserved for valuable long-term purchases. Combat XP advances individual vehicles, Free XP removes specific research barriers, and Crew XP improves vehicle performance through crew development.

Plan each resource around a clear goal. Keep a Credit reserve, use Free XP on important modules, avoid unnecessary Gold exchanges, and save Bonds until the purchase will improve a vehicle you genuinely use.
