WOTLK Classic Blacksmithing Guide
Professions in World of Warcraft add crafting skills to your heroes, complementing different classes differently. For example, Alchemy allows you to make powerful potions and enhances your buff duration from them. Blacksmithing allows you to craft powerful gear while being the only profession that can add sockets into their gear. This way, you can complement your Heroes’ class with one of these professions to help you progress faster and make more money from it. This WOTLK Classic Blacksmithing Guide is about how to progress faster if you have chosen Blacksmithing as a profession in WOTLK Classic.
Introduction to Blacksmithing
Before we go to this article’s juicy part, let’s first see what Blacksmithing is and its benefits.
What Does it Do?
The profession helps you turn different metals into weapons and other gear like mail and plate armor. They can also add sockets to equipment, and this profession is best paired with Mining because, at higher skills, craft ingredients cost a lot more if you can’t gather them yourself through Mining.
Does Your Class Need any Gear for Blacksmithing?
Not specifically, but you need crafting recipes to make them, which can only be done at a forge available at different locations. Recipes tell you which ingredients you need and how to farm them.
Does Blacksmithing Get You Anything Extra?
Other than crafting armor and gear, Blacksmiths are the only profession who can add sockets to their gear, making it highly beneficial to heavy classes like Paladin, Death Knights, and Warriors.
Why Should I Choose Blacksmithing Profession?
Blacksmithing is the profession for you if you wear Plate and other heavy armor as it allows you to craft your gear and some special equipment that isn’t open to anyone else.
What is the Best Paired with Blacksmithing?
As we said, Mining is a Blacksmithing companion as it allows you to mine essential minerals and metals that otherwise cost a lot when crafting so many gear and items. Most of these ingredients are now shared with Engineering, but with Mining, your costs are meager for full benefit.
Are The Specializations for Blacksmithing Still Viable for WOTLK?
Even though Blizzard made changes to the mechanics, which causes the reason to choose a specialization that much less important, there are reasons to do so. If you want to make level 78 solid gear or gear up alts, you should choose one.
Armorsmithing – This specialization is to make mid to high-tier plate armor and unique special gear like the Chestplate of Conquest and Legplates of Conquest.
Weaponsmithing – These are specific to weapons and can help you make special weapons.
Blacksmithing Bonuses and Benefits
As mentioned, Blacksmithing allows you to add sockets to your gear like epic gems, which can enhance your stats like giving your Strength, Agility, or Intellect a +40 boost, enhancing your ATK Power by +80, Spell Power by +46, getting +60 to your stamina and +40 to any secondary stat.
Following is the powerful gear your profession can help you make:
- Eternal Belt Buckle – Helps you add a socket to your belts or can be sold in AH for a reasonable sum.
- Titanium Weapon Chain – Can be attached to weapons, allowing your hero to reduce the disarmed duration and increase hit rating. You can also sell it in AH for a sum of WOTLK gold.
- Tank Specific – Titanium Shield Wall for defense rating, Indestructible Plate Girdle for Def, Dodge, Parry rating, and more.
- DPS Specific – Spiked Titansteel Treads for Crit Strike rating, Titanium Razorplate for Crit rating, and Armor Pen.
- Healer Specific – Brilliant Titansteel Treads for mana restore, crit rating, and spell power.
